MED SCI 720 / Tobacco and Health: From Cells to Society

This course will provide students with a comprehensive overview of tobacco and tobaccorelated issues from a public health perspective. The course focuses on patterns, determinants and health effects of tobacco use, the causes, impacts and interventions regarding nicotine addiction, and the prevention of tobacco use. Topics will include epidemiology, nicotine addiction, genetic factors, health effects, treatment issues, prevention, and policy issues. Students will be exposed to experts in the field who bring hands-on experience in tobacco control in addition to academic expertise.
