POL SCI 769 / The Political Economy of East Asia

Students will be provided with an overview of the regional political economy of East Asia. In addition, there will be an examination of the major contemporary trends and challenges that face the people and governments of the region. Special attention will be paid to the rise of the East Asian developmental state and its consequences, the increasing economic importance of China to the region and the extent to which states within East Asia are cooperating to build regional economic institutions.
