KINESIOL 728 / Integrative Cell and Molecular Exercise Physiology 3 unit(s)
Antirequisite(s): KINESIOL 719 and/or KINESIOL 725
This course will explore current and emerging topics in exercise physiology from a molecular and cellular perspective. Relevant molecular processes such as neuromuscular biology, regulation of gene expression, molecular regulation of stem cells, inter and intracellular signaling for muscle adaptation, and necrosis and apoptosis will be examined. Emphasis is placed on cellular mechanisms of health and disease, as well as responses and adaptations to aging and/or physical activity. Evaluation is usually in the form of research presentations, class participation, and a major research paper(s).
