KINESIOL 729 / Neurobiology of movement; impact of disease and exercise

This course covers the fundamental neurobiology of synaptic communication in the central and peripheral nervous systems, spinal and supraspinal structures associated with movement, and cognition and higher-order functioning. This course considers these topics in health and in disease states that vary as a function of age including development, adolescence, adulthood and elderly. The course emphasizes the role of exercise as an intervention to modify the neurobiology of movement.
