HLTH MGT 798 / Health Management Independent Experiential Study

3 unit(s)

Prerequisite(s): Admission to the Master of Health Management Program.

This course is designed to allow students to develop a course tailored to their specialized learning objectives through a work-integrated experience in a healthcare environment outside of their current workplace where they integrate theory obtained in the program into practice.

Students will complete an experiential learning opportunity (virtually, in-person or a combination) involving an approved supervisor at a community organization where they will apply knowledge, skills and professional behaviours in the area of healthcare management. Students create their own opportunity. Under the guidance of a faculty member, the supervisor and student will set specific learning objectives, how these will be achieved, and evaluated. Students must produce significant deliverables (e.g. learning contract, case study, administration tool or technical report) supported by qualitative or quantitative research that will be evaluated and graded by the supervisor and faculty member.
