PHYSIOTH 797 / Physiotherapy Theory and Practice Remediation 1.5 unit(s)
Prerequisite(s): Permission of the department
This independent study, quarter course provides students in the MSc(PT) Program who are unable to proceed to clinical placement due to the failure of the OSCE component of a Clinical Laboratory course with the opportunity to formally remediate. In most. Instances, the student, in consultation with a faculty member, will develop a learning contract. The learning contract will be comprised of Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Time-bound (SMART) learning goals, Learning Resources (Techniques and Tools), Evaluation Methodology, and Criteria for Evaluation. In other instances, the student may be required to audit the clinical lab course and re-take the failed OSCE component when it is next offered (i.e. next academic year). Course content will be individually tailored to align with the learning contract and remediation requirements as outlined by the Program Academic Study Committee (PASC) recommendations for the formal remediation. The course is evaluated on a Pass/Fail basis. Students will normally only be allowed to take this course twice while in the MSc(Physiotherapy) Program.
