Prerequisite(s): BUSINESS C650  or registration in Global Health, eHealth or permission of the instructor OR enrollment in the Blended Learning Part-time MBA Program.

This course explores concepts, research and theories regarding communications strategies for health care organizations including: internal and external communications; brand/image management; the role of media in shaping public opinion; and, communications within health care teams and between patients and providers. The use of technology and social media as well as issues of transparency and confidentiality will be explored. Students will gain an understanding of the importance of, and best practices associated with, effective communication when dealing with day-to-day issues or crisis management. This multidisciplinary course is designed for students interested in strategic management, marketing, crisis management, health services delivery, and global health.
