CLPPC 707 / Evaluating Evidence: An Approach to Critical Evaluation of the Literature 1.5 unit(s)
Prerequisite(s): Enrollment is restricted to Child Life and Pediatric Psychosocial Care students only.
This is a required course for Stream 1 and 2 learners, and runs for 6 weeks. The literature in our field, as in every other field, is filled with material of variable methodological quality. It is essential for all professionals to have the skills to discern credible material from material of questionable value. This course is designed for students to develop knowledge and critical appraisal skills to enable them to read and evaluate sources of ‘evidence’ from the published literature - material designed to support approaches, interventions, and decision-making in pediatric clinical environments. This course is offered online in the winter semester.
