CIV ENG 716 / Seismic Behavior and Design of Reinforced Concrete Systems 3 unit(s)
The course covers advanced topics related to the seismic behavior and design of reinforced concrete systems. These topics include: 1) the design philosophies applicable to reinforced concrete seismic force resisting systems; 2) the material properties of steel and unconfined/confined concrete that are relevant to seismic performance and design; 3) the behavior of structural concrete components, including columns, walls, beam-column connections, and slab-column and slab-wall framing subjected to axial force, moment, shear, and imposed inelastic deformations; and 4) the seismic design of moment-resisting frames, structural walls and diaphragms.
