ENGLISH 776 / Community Engaged Narrative Arts

This course is a practice-based, experiential education class in which students will develop a project in arts-based community-making. Students will engage with a community of their choosing to co-develop a project that enables a community to tell their own story their way. Students will discuss readings on community-engaged scholarship, develop proposals for community-based projects, and produce either a project itself or an essay reflecting on a community project. Students must consult with the instructor in the term before the class begins, to start the process of planning which community they will work with to develop a project before the class gets underway.
