The objective of the course is to develop an understanding of the fundamental operational principles and control of switched reluctance machines (SRM). The student will be provided the multidisciplinary principles and design aspects of SRM. The topics that will be covered throughout the course include electromagnetic principles, modeling, controls, converters, and materials used in SRMs, and design of SRM. The course also targets helping the student gain hands-on experience in simulation tools used in electric machine design.
