ENGLISH 2VC3 - Topics in Visual Culture

This course examines visual texts in a select media and genres through an exploration of a variety of theoretical discourses and representational practices. Approaches can include cultural studies, film theories, and gender, queer, and critical race theories.
Three hours; one term
Prerequisite(s): Registration in Level II or above of any program. Not open to students with credit or registration in ENGLISH 2P03 or CSCT 2P03, if the topic is Modernity, Postmodernity, Visuality; with credit or registration in ENGLISH 2S03 or CSCT 2S03, if the topic is Spectacular Bodies; or with credit or registration in ENGLISH 3CC3, CSCT 3CC3, CMST 3CC3, THTRFLM 3R03, if the topic is Reading Film. ENGLISH 2VC3 may be repeated, if on a different topic, to a total of six units.
