As government funding for healthcare is strained in our current environment, the need to examine investments in new programs, treatments, and technologies is essential. This course will equip future health services managers to examine and apply economic principles to policy and management-relevant questions in the area of health and healthcare. Course content will incorporate theory and, most importantly, applied methods to inform investment decisions. Students will construct an economic model using a pre-designed shell to put these applied skills to use. The new skills developed in this course will position students to lead teams that advise on financial investments in health programs and technologies.
