This course examines the political, economic and moral influences that shape the political struggles over global climate change. Topics to be covered include: the IPCC Report, climate wars, moral paradoxes, climate science politics, shadows of consumption, manufacturing consumer desire, climate capitalism, global climate governance, carbon markets, inequality and climate change. Students will read and evaluate 10 books in the field and complete a research paper on an aspect of the political economy of climate change.
