The global financial crisis that began in 2007 has raised profound practical and theoretical questions about the governance of global markets, the power of the US, the need to expand participation in global policy and regulatory processes beyond the G7 countries. This course will address these types of questions while also providing background on longstanding debates about the globalization of finance, its social and political significance, and its relationship to power and to other fields of study, including international relations and globalization.
