Comparative political economy is the cross-national comparison of the ways in which politics and economics are interdependent within modern nation-states, or the comparative politics of economic policies and outcomes. This seminar explores core themes in comparative political economy including economic approaches to politics, the politics of economic development, the political economy of economic and social policy, varieties of capitalism, and the effects of economic globalization on domestic policy-making. Course content includes examples from both the developed and developing world.
