This course examines a series of proven and applied philosophies, tools and techniques used in manufacturing for designing, testing, and optimizing products and processes.
It addresses issues around tactical project management in manufacturing environment, design for manufacturing, design for testability and operationality, product and process development and optimization, FMEA, Risk management, value streams, queuing theory, and operations management and manufacturing simulation.
The intent of the course is to give students a fundamental knowledge, awareness, and practice of the need to design a product/service and the relevant manufacturing processes in an optimized, efficient and sustainable way. We will as well explore the integration of those techniques into simulation and model factory environments.
The delivery model for the course will emphasizes hands on learning in team set up.
Industry experts and past students may be invited for presentations.
