PSYCHOTH 705 / Ethical Standards and Professional Practice

Prerequisite(s): Enrollment is restricted to Psychotherapy students.

This course will focus on providing students with an introduction to the ethical and professional issues in the practice of psychotherapy, such as consent, privacy and confidentiality, client-therapists boundaries and various legal requirements. The aim is for students to learn ethical guidelines and the steps in ethical decision making. The course will cover content related to the legal requirements and ethical conduct for registered health professionals and more specifically for Registered Psychotherapists in Ontario. This is a required course for psychotherapy students.
