ANTHROP 712 / Handling Quantitative Social Science Data: Collection, Analysis, and Interpretation
In this course, students will acquire fundamental statistical knowledge and practical skills essential for data analysis in social science research. Topics covered include key statistical tests such as chi-squared, t-tests, and ANOVAs, as well as programming in R. Students will engage in discussions regarding best practices in data collection, data management, data visualization, and addressing issues related to missing data. Students will have the opportunity to work with their own datasets, ultimately culminating in the development of a small research project. This course is specifically designed for social science students who have limited or no prior experience in statistics or coding.
