ANTHROP 2D03 - 23 and You: The Archaeology of your DNA

In this course, students with little to no science background will learn about our genome and how past events have shaped its content. Students will learn how its code (sequence) can be used to uncover our evolutionary history, migrations, disease, and relationships to other relatives, e.g., great apes and Neanderthals. Students discuss the use/misuse of genomics in forensics, identity politics, the media and private industry.
Lectures and discussion (three hours); one term
Prerequisite(s): Three units of Level I Anthropology, registration in Level II or above in any program.
