INDIGST 3D03 - Contemporary Indigenous Literatures of Turtle Island 3 unit(s)
This course is a study of contemporary literary works by Indigenous writers across Turtle Island - including oral narratives, short stories, novels, poetry, graphic novels, and drama. Native representations of identity, gender, health, aesthetics, traditional knowledge, and anti-colonialism will be examined. Students will also develop an understanding of various Indigenous literary approaches such as nationalism, resurgence, trans-Indigeneity, and body sovereignty.
Three hours (lectures and seminars); one term
Prerequisite(s): Three units of Level II Indigenous Studies or six units of Level II English or permission of the Department.
