Review of multivariate statistics. Acquiring, interpreting and processing large data sets. Introduction to dimensional reduction techniques such as principal component analysis (PCA) and projection of latent structures (PLS). Introduction to Artificial Neural Networks. Survey of methods for clustering, classification, and regression. Chemical and materials engineering applications. Coursework will include computer programming and reasoning with linear algebra.
