This course explores how ethical value is shaped and contested now in the face of disasters near and far. Grounded in ethnographic studies of specific ethical traditions (religious and secular), course topics may include the problem of suffering, the cultivation of virtue, and the looming climate apocalypse.

Prerequisite(s): Three units of Level I Anthropology or three units of Level I SCAR or permission of the instructor.
