KINESIOL 3RM3 - Research Methodologies and Data Analysis in Kinesiology 3 unit(s)
This course deals with the scientific research process with direct application to the field of Kinesiology. Because it is such a broad-based discipline, research initiatives in Kinesiology draw from many diverse areas including Integrative Physiology, Mechanics & Control of Movement, and Neuroscience & Behaviour. The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the ways in which researchers from these areas conduct independent research initiatives that are based on the generation of relevant research questions and the testing of specific hypotheses. Students will learn how to conduct simple, controlled empirical investigations with sound study designs and will develop the skills necessary to analyze and draw valid conclusions from these studies.
Lectures (three hours), tutorial (one hour); one term
Prerequisite(s): Registration in Level III or above of an Honours Kinesiology program
This course is required as a prerequisite for KINESIOL 4RR6 A/B and 4RR9 A/B .
