SEP 777 / Cyber-Physical Systems and Industry 4.0

Prerequisite(s): Open to students in MEME, MEPP, MED, MEEI or MTEI.
 

Antirequisite(s): SEP 769  

The course presents a broad understanding of the cyber-physical systems and Industry 4.0. Topics examined include: Cyber-physical systems overview with examples from industrial sectors, entertainment, consumer appliances. Industry 4.0 hardware, software and network structure; automation hierarchy, manufacturing execution systems, enterprise resource management systems; edge computing and cloud computing; and the role of system modelling in decision making. After completing the course, students will have the knowledge required to decide what types of software applications are appropriate for improving operations of industrial plants.
