GENDR ST 725 / Social Justice Frameworks of Prison Abolition 3 unit(s)
Introduces students to social justice frameworks of abolition and prisoners’ justice activism. Using key texts in social movement theory, critical criminology, and critical race, gender, sexuality, disability and intersectionality theory, students will become familiar with the operations of the Prison Industrial Complex in Canada and its connections to interlocking systems of oppression. In this experiential education course, students will participate in community-engaged projects with abolitionist organizations.
