POLSCI 3G03 - Politics of Diversity: Race, Ethnicity, and Multiculturalism 3 unit(s)
This course explores the complex dynamics of race, ethnicity, and multiculturalism within the Canadian political landscape, while incorporating comparative perspectives from other plural societies. Students will examine theoretical frameworks and practical applications of multicultural policies, the impact of immigration, and the political representation of diverse communities. Through case studies and comparative analysis, the course will address issues of identity, inclusion, and social justice, providing a comprehensive understanding of how different countries navigate political challenges. By the end of the course, students will be equipped to critically analyze and engage with the politics of diversity in Canada and beyond.
Three hours (lectures and discussion); one term
Prerequisite(s): Six units of Political Science and registration in Level III or above. (See Note 7 above).
