INDIGST 2F03 - Indigenous Peoples and Education

This course will examine Indigenous approaches to education and Indigenous peoples experiences with the formal schooling system including the Residential School System and Indian Boarding School system. Using examples from across North America and the world, further topics of discussion will include Indigenous approaches to pedagogy, decolonizing curriculum, and indigenization.
Three hours (lectures and seminars); one term
Prerequisite(s): Three units Level I Indigenous Studies; or one of ARTSSCI 1CC3 or ARTSSCI 1AA3; or permission of the Department.
