This course takes a historical approach to introducing students to the field of Labour Studies. It will show how the nature of work has been transformed repeatedly over time, and how workers have organized in response to those changes. The course will also explore how the day-to-day lives of workers in different settings and time periods were affected by changing political landscapes and social forces such as race, immigration, and gender.
