Helping is a political act, and the well-intentioned desire to help others is informed by power and values, and shaped by current and historical contexts. This course examines the ways that systems, roles, and implicit and explicit motivations impact community engagement and professional helping relationships, and fosters students’ capacities for critical thinking, reciprocity, and transformative action for justice and equity.
