INDIGST 2HW3 - We Are the Medicine: Indigenous Teachings in Health and Wellbeing

This course builds foundations in Indigenous concepts of health and wellbeing; beginning with the groundwork of Indigenous thoughtways, it prepares students for later study in the practical application of medical knowledges (i.e., INDIGST 3HH3). From a nation-specific context, students will explore the history, adaptation, and contemporary relevance of traditional health teachings. Visits by experienced knowledge holders will deepen understanding and provide connection to neighbouring Indigenous communities.
Three hour lecture, one term; In-person
