The Global Health graduate program is an innovative, interdisciplinary program designed to prepare students for the diverse global health workforce and further professional and post-graduate education. Forward-thinking, responsive, and proactive, the Global Health program has been recognized for innovative programming and academic excellence. Designed to prepare graduates for careers in a globalized world, the program immerses students in an experiential learning environment that stresses high quality transdisciplinary research and global team work, gained by first-hand experience in international collaboration.
The program offers two degree options:
- the award-winning 12-month M.Sc., and
- the Ph.D. that includes an innovative cotutelle option where students can elect to complete a joint doctoral degree with a partner institution.
The program brings together faculties of social sciences, health sciences, business and humanities, and links with institutions across multiple continents. Working with an evolving consortium of academic institutions around the world (https://gh-consortium.org/), the McMaster Global Health program shares in the commitment to providing an equitable, inclusive, and high-quality education to create a globally competent workforce.
In 2015, the MSc program received the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) Panorama Award for Outstanding International Education (Academic category). In 2016, it was also awarded Distinctive Quality Feature Internationalisation by the independent Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO). And, in 2017, the MSc program was ranked 2nd in the accredited Health Sciences category of Keuzegids, an independent consumer guide published annually by the Dutch Higher Education Information Centre.
Together with our growing network of global partners, the Global Health program is working in support of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Graduates from the Global Health graduate program will be eligible for positions with government agencies, with public and private industry, and with global health and development organizations.
