International Relations, M.A.

Admission

Admissions to the M.A. in International Relations degree program requires an average of B+ or better in Honours Political Science or, with the approval of the Department’s Graduate Chair, in another discipline. The Department offers two streams in this M.A. program: (1) Global Politics; and (2) Global Political Economy. Students must indicate the stream in which they wish to major in their application.

Requirements

Students in the M.A. in International Relations program are required to complete:

1. Four international relations courses; three in the major stream, one other International Relations course. For students in the Global Politics stream, this must include
   POL SCI 772
     -Theories of International Relations. For students in the Global Political Economy stream, this must include
   POL SCI 774
     - Global Political Economy.
2. One other International Relations course
3. One additional graduate course
4. M.A. in International Relations Colloquium course POL SCI 775  
5. Major Research Paper (10,000 words) ( POL SCI 708  )

Normally, completion of the M.A. in International Relations will take one year.
