Nuclear Engineering UNENE

The Department of Engineering Physics offers two  part-time UNENE graduate programs. The M.Eng. and Diploma programs are course-based and allow students who currently work in the nuclear industry to broaden and deepen their nuclear knowledge and capability. Courses are presented off campus typically in 3-4 weekends spread over three months. Courses are given live, usually with synchronous distance education. Courses are offered on a three year cycle timeline and not all of the courses will be offered each year.

Graduate Degree Admission Requirements


A strong baccalaureate degree with an average of at least B (equivalent to a McMaster GPA of 8.0) in engineering, mathematics, or the physical sciences is generally required for admission to the UNENE M.Eng and Diploma program.

UNENE M.Eng. Degree in Nuclear Engineering


Course Requirements


The requirement for the M.Eng.in Nuclear Engineering is to complete ten UNENE courses or eight such courses and an industrial engineering project. The UNENE program is offered on a part-time basis.

UNENE Diploma Program


The Department of Engineering Physics offers a part-time UNENE Diploma in conjunction with the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT). The Diploma program is course-based and allows students who currently work in the nuclear industry to broaden and deepen their nuclear knowledge and capability. Courses are presented off campus typically in 3-4 weekends spread over three months. Courses are given live, usually with synchronous distance education.

Admission


Applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree in the fields of engineering, science or mathematics with an acceptable grade point average, similar to that for entry into the UNENE M.Eng. degree program. Consideration will be given to relevant work experience. In addition, applicants must be deemed to have satisfactory preparation, as a result of university education and work experience, to succeed in the program. The Department Chair, upon the recommendation of the departmental Graduate Admissions Committee, will make admission recommendations to the School of Graduate Studies.

Course Requirements


The student will be granted a graduate UNENE Diploma upon successful completion of four half courses. Courses will be chosen from those offered in the UNENE M.Eng. program and will consist of a minimum of two of the four core courses offered. Courses are to be completed within a three year period with a minimum passing grade of B- for each course.
