Prior to registration, to better prepare Level I Gateway students for Level I courses and Level II program selection, students are encouraged to review Level II program admission requirements through this section of the Undergraduate Calendar or the McMaster Academic Planner (MAP) at mapsci.ca. Level I students must review the admission requirements of the Level II programs they are considering. Courses must be selected carefully to meet the admission requirements for entry to Level II of a specific program. To maximize the selection of Level II programs from the disciplines of Life Sciences, students should consider choosing the courses recommended below.

Students without Grade 12 Calculus and Vectors U must complete MATH 1F03.
CHEM 1R03 serves as the prerequisite for CHEM 1A03 for those students who did not complete Grade 12 Chemistry U.
WHMIS 1A00, a one-hour mandatory online Introduction to Health and Safety course, is a co-requisite to Level I courses with a lab component and must be completed prior to the first lab.
BIOSAFE 1BS0, a mandatory online introduction to bio-safety lab training, is a co-requisite to BIOLOGY 1A01, 1A02 and 1A03 and must be completed prior to the first lab.
Completion of CHEM 1A03 as part of the Science I Course List requirement is recommended.
When completed together, BIOLOGY 1A01 and 1A02 serve as a substitute for BIOLOGY 1A03. These courses should be completed in the same term. If completed, both BIOLOGY 1A01 and 1A02 would be required for admission.
