Admission
Enrolment in this program is limited and possession of the published minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. Selection is based on academic achievement but requires, as a minimum, completion of any Level I program with a Grade Point Average of at least 5.0 including: 6 units
from the following courses, where an average of 7.0 (between the courses) is required 3 units
from the following courses, with a grade of at least B- 6 units
from the following courses, where an average of at least 7.0 (between the courses) is required Program Notes
- Academic advising for this program is shared by the Departments of Biology and Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour. Information may be obtained through the Undergraduate Programs Advisors in the Life Sciences Building, Room 218 or Psychology Building, Room 109.
- The Department of Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour offers the opportunity to complete a library study, independent research, and/or a thesis. Students wishing to complete undergraduate research are expected to (a) find their own research supervisor and (b) complete the appropriate application/permission forms by the deadline indicated on the Department of Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour website at https://pnb.mcmaster.ca/undergraduate/experiential-opportunities/research-2/.
- Effective September 2025, students who wish to pursue graduate studies are strongly encouraged to complete one of BIOLOGY 4C12 A/B S , BIOLOGY 4F06 A/B S , PNB 4D06 A/B or PNB 4D09 A/B but this is no longer a requirement of the program.
- Both PNB 2XD3 , 2XF3 are highly recommended but not required. PNB 2XD3 is included in the Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour Course List and may be used towards the Level III Psychology requirements.
- Students who entered the program in September 2024 or prior, will have the choice to count Level II Biology and Level II Molecular Biology courses toward the Biology Course List.
- Students who enter the program in September 2026 or later may count a maximum of 6 units from PNB 3Q03 A/B S , 3QQ3 A/B S , 4Q03 A/B S , 4QQ3 A/B S towards the Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour Course List.

Requirements
120 units total (Levels I to IV), of which no more than 48 units may be Level I 30 units

from - the Biology Course List, which must include at least three units of Level IV Biology or Molecular Biology courses (See Program Notes 2, 3 and 5 above.)

from - Level III, IV courses from the Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour Course List, which must include at least three units of Level IV (See Program Notes 2, 3, 4 and 6 above.)
0-3 units
from the following courses, if not completed in Level I 21-24 units
- Electives (See Program Note 4 above.)
