Return to: Interdisciplinary Minors and Thematic Areas
The Interdisciplinary Minor in Africa and Black Diaspora Studies is made up of courses spanning across more than a dozen departments. A Minor in Africa and Black Diaspora Studies provides students with in-depth understanding of Black and African-diaspora peoples and societies around the world.
|
Notes
- Students who have previously completed INSPIRE 3EL3 where the topic was Topics in Black, African, and African Diaspora Studies, or Topics in the Black Caribbean and its Diasporas, may include these courses toward the minor’s requirements, Course List A.
- Student requests for course substitution can be completed by emailing abld@mcmaster.ca.
- Students should note that not all courses listed are available each year. Furthermore, it is the student’s responsibility to check carefully for prerequisites, co-requisites, and enrolment restrictions.
- Students are strongly encouraged to seek guidance from their academic advisor to ensure they are meeting all enrolment requirements, including Faculty-specific requirements for double counting courses required for a student’s major.
- All courses have enrolment capacities. The Faculties cannot guarantee enrolment in courses for minors even when prerequisites have been met.
