Honours Medical and Biological Physics (B.Sc.)

Admission Notes


  1. Completion of BIOLOGY 1A03  (or BIOLOGY 1A01  and 1A02 ), CHEM 1AA3  and MATH 1B03  (or 1ZC3 ) is required by the end of Level II. Completion in Level I is strongly recommended. BIOLOGY 1M03  is also recommended.
  2. Completion of MEDPHYS 1A03 PHYSICS 1CC3  is recommended in Level I.
  3. When completed together, BIOLOGY 1A01  and 1A02  serve as a substitute for BIOLOGY 1A03 . These courses should be completed in the same term. If completed, both BIOLOGY 1A01  and 1A02  would be required for admission.

Admission


Completion of any Level I program with a Grade Point Average of at least 5.0 including:

Program Notes


  1. Students may take any combination of courses from Course List A - Medical Physics Focus, Course List B - Biological Physics Focus or Course List C - Soft Matter Focus based on their area of interest.
  2. Students interested in medical physics or health physics, especially those considering postgraduate studies in these areas, should take 12 units from Course List A - Medical Physics Focus. These courses also contribute to the core knowledge and learning objectives required by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Education Programs.
  3. Students interested in biochemistry, in particular those interested in postgraduate studies in this area, should take 12 units from the Course List B - Biological Physics Focus.
  4. Students interested in physics and soft matter physics, especially those considering postgraduate studies in these areas, should take 12 units from Course List C - Physics of Soft Matter Focus.
  5. Completion of either BIOCHEM 2B03  and 2BB3  or BIOCHEM 2EE3  and 3G03  is required, however, BIOCHEM 2EE3  and 3G03  are recommended.
  6. Completion of KINESIOL 2X03  or 2Y03  is required by graduation, however, students are encouraged to complete the course in Level II or III.
