Honours Economics and Computer Science (B.A.)

The Honours Economics and Computer Science (B.A.) program will be phased out beginning September 2027. The final entry into Level II is September 2026. Students who had planned to enrol in this program should contact an Academic Advisor in the Office of the Associate Dean, Undergraduate Studies to discuss other options.

Notes
- Alternate admission requirements:
- For students enrolled in Level II or III of BA Economics, admission to Levels II, III and IV of Honours Economics programs requires a minimum GPA of 5.0 and an average of at least 5.0 in ECON 2Z03 , 2ZZ3 , and two of 2H03, 2HH3, 2Y03 , and 2YY3 . Students enrolled in Levels II or III of BA Economics cannot gain admission to Honours Economics programs by upgrading ECON 1B03 (or 1BX3) or 1BB3 (or 1BA3).
- For students in another program beyond Level I, admission to Levels II, III and IV of Honours Economics programs normally requires a minimum GPA of 5.0 and an average of at least 5.0 in ECON 2Z03 , 2ZZ3 , and two of 2H03, 2HH3, 2Y03 , and 2YY3 . Students cannot gain admission to Honours Economics programs by upgrading ECON 1B03 (or 1BX3) or 1BB3 (or 1BA3). However, if a student enrolled in Level II or above of another program has a minimum GPA of 5.0 and has completed ECON 1B03 and 1BB3 with an average of at least 5.0 on their first attempt, they will be considered admissible.
- COMMERCE 2FA3 may be substituted for ECON 2I03 and COMMERCE 2QA3 may be substituted for ECON 2B03 .
- Students with prior credit in a statistics course recognized as an alternative to ECON 2B03 can take ECON 3EE3 only if they achieved a grade of at least B+ in an alternative statistics course. There is no such grade requirement for ECON 3E03. See ECON 3EE3 in the Course Listings section of this Calendar for a list of recognized alternative statistics courses.
- Seats in the Level 1 Computer Science courses are limited. For those students in Economics 1 who hope to be eligible for admission to the Honours Economics & Computer Science program in Level II, the Department of Economics has a pre-registration ballot for a limited number of seats for COMPSCI 1JC3 ;and 1MD3 . Economics 1 students who are unsuccessful enrolling in these courses on their own may submit a ballot to the Department of Economics by July 1st. The ballot will be available on the Department of Economics website.
- COMPSCI 1DM3 and 1XC3 must be completed by the end of Level II.
- For students who have completed ECON 2H03 but did not successfully complete ECON 2HH3, they may substitute ECON 2Y03 in place of ECON 2HH3.

120 units total (Levels I to IV), of which 48 units may be Level I 30 units
from - the Level I program completed prior to admission to the program.
