Interdisciplinary Minor in Civic Vitality, Democracy and Electoral Management (CIV-DEM)
Return to: Interdisciplinary Minors and Thematic Areas
The objective of this Minor is to empower students to be lifelong citizens/scholars committed to confronting the challenges that face our democracies, including issues that are local, national and global in scope, and to contribute innovative solutions that build civic vitality, drive inclusive and just democratic practices, and strengthen electoral integrity. The program encourages students to understand historical and contemporary struggles in democracy, and to wrestle with contentious issues and big questions surrounding civic life today. Built on connecting with a large and effective network of advocates, innovators, practitioners, researchers and policymakers, the program also develops skills and capacities that are critical to professional life and effective public discourse.
