Microcredential in Equitable Activity, Mobility, and Community Health


The Microcredential in Equitable Activity, Mobility, and Community Health is administered by the Physical Activity Centre of Excellence and the Department of Kinesiology  in the Faculty of Science.
This microcredential provides undergraduate students with the opportunity to integrate coursework and experiential learning focused on advancing health equity through physical activity, mobility, and community engagement. Students gain a strong foundation in inclusive health promotion, develop professional competencies alongside exercise professionals, and engage directly with community members through applied practice and volunteer experiences at PACE.

Learning Outcomes


Students who complete this microcredential will be able to:

  • Understand how equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA) shape physical activity, mobility, and community health.
  • Apply evidence-based practice and inclusive design principles to improve health outcomes for diverse populations.
  • Develop professional communication, leadership, and person-centred delivery skills in applied settings.
  • Critically engage with clients and communities to co-create equitable health solutions.
  • Translate research and theory into practice through experiential and community-based learning.

Requirements


Any student in an undergraduate degree program at McMaster may declare the Microcredential in Equitable Activity, Mobility, and Community Health at the time of graduation, provided they complete the following:

Completion of all four courses will be formally recognized on student transcripts as: Microcredential in Equitable Activity, Mobility, and Community Health.
