LIFESCI 3XX3 - Peer Mentoring in the Life Sciences 3 unit(s)
This course explores the pedagogy of peer mentorship. Students apply what they learn by providing support, advice, and guidance to more junior life science students. They will also have the opportunity to assess their progress as mentors and communicate their findings using various science communication strategies. Applications will be available at the beginning of March on the School of Interdisciplinary Science (SIS) website. Applications must be submitted by April 1 of the preceding academic year. Successful students will be notified by May 30. Lectures (three hours), tutorial (two hours); one term Prerequisite(s): LIFESCI 2AA3 and registration in Level III or above of an Honours Life Sciences program; or registration in Level III or above of an Honours Life Sciences specialization; and a GPA of at least 7.0; and permission of the instructor Not open to students with credit or registration in LIFESCI 3YY3 or PSYCH 3TT3.
