A complex web of influences shapes how we understand and interact with scientific knowledge and ideas, from our family and upbringing, to how scientists are depicted in movies. Using a wide range of popular science media, this course introduces students to the dominant narratives and visual forms used to communicate science. The course teaches students how to contextually understand and analyse the communication devices used, and to understand their effect on how science is accessed and understood by diverse communities.
