BIOCHEM 3CM3 - Chemistry in Medicine: Building Modern Therapeutics

This course covers organic chemistry synthesis and reactions through the lens of medicinal chemistry and drug discovery, with special emphasis on modern therapeutic modalities. Students will master fundamental synthetic transformations while exploring their applications in pharmaceutical development across diverse therapeutic areas. Each reaction is contextualized within case studies on drug discovery, disease mechanisms, and therapeutic impact. This course bridges fundamental organic chemistry with real-world pharmaceutical applications, preparing students for careers in drug discovery, pharma research, biotech, and graduate studies in biochemistry, chemical biology, and medicinal chemistry.
