Admission

Completion of any Level I program and a Grade Point Average of at least 5.0 including a grade of at least C in FRENCH 1A06 A/B, FRENCH 1AA3  and FRENCH 1AB3 , 2M06 A/B, or FRENCH 2AA3  and 2AB3 , or a grade of at least A in 2Z06 A/B or FRENCH 2ZA3  and FRENCH 2ZB3 ; and successful completion of one of MATH 1A03 , 1LS3  or 1X03  and one of MATH 1AA3 , 1LT3 , or 1XX3  with a grade of at least C+ (see Note 3 below).

Notes

  1. Upon completion of 60 units of work (including 12 units of required Level II French courses), and with the approval of the Department of French and the Office of the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, up to 15 units of Level III French may be replaced by courses of study at a French-language university.
  2. MATH 1B03  and MATH 1C03  must be completed by the end of Level II. Completion in Level I is strongly recommended.
  3. Students seeking admission to the program should note that MATH 1A03  and 1AA3  were designed for Chemical & Physical Science Gateway students and MATH 1LS3  and 1LT3  were developed for Life Sciences or Earth & Environmental Sciences Gateway students. Math 1A03 and 1AA3 prepare students for a wide variety of upper year math courses. Math 1LS3 and 1LT3 prepare students for many (but not all) upper year mathematics courses. As a result, students who take Math 1LS3 and 1LT3 are permitted to enroll in upper year courses, but some self-study of first year calculus topics (such as series and additional integration topics) may be required.
  4. The Faculty of Humanities introduced a new requirement for all Humanities degree students starting in 2024-25. The Skills for Life Concurrent Certificate comprises 18 units that provide a foundation for students to develop important academic and career-relevant skills such as oral and written communication, critical thinking, and digital literacy. The mandatory requirements below assume successful completion of HUMAN 1DL3 , HUMAN 1HL3  and HUMAN 1VV3  in Humanities 1. Students transferring to Humanities programs beyond Level 1 are exempt from the concurrent certificate. Please see Faculty of Humanities Academic Regulations for more information.
  5. The following courses may not be used to satisfy Level II program requirements: FRENCH 2AA3 , 2AB3 , 2M06 A/B, 2Q03 , 2XX3 , 2Z06 A/B, 2ZA3 , and 2ZB3 .
