The courses listed in this section include all courses approved for the undergraduate curriculum for the 2021-2022 academic year. Not all courses in the approved curriculum will be offered during the year. Students are advised to refer to the course timetables available annually in Mosaic in March and June to determine which specific courses will be offered in the upcoming sessions.
Note: An A/B suffix appearing in a course number indicates that the course may be delivered across more than one term (see Multi-Term Course in the Glossary  of this calendar). The A/B S suffix indicates that the course may be delivered as either a multi-term course or within a single term.

Looking for MMEDIA (Multimedia), PEACEST (Peace Studies), or WOMENST (Women’s Studies) courses?

• The subject MEDIAART (Media Arts) has replaced MMEDIA
• The subject PEACJUST (Global Peace and Social Justice) has replaced PEACEST
• The subject GENDRST (Gender Studies) has replaced WOMENST

Please use the revised subject area when searching for courses. Most courses use the same code but with the revised subject area (e.g. MMEDIA 2A06 is now known as MEDIAART 2A06).

Please note, when searching courses by “Code or Number”, an asterisk (*) can be used as a wildcard character to return mass results. For example, a “Code or Number” search of ” 2* ” can be entered returning all level II courses.

Courses in Statistics are administered by the Department of Mathematics & Statistics.

Former Women’s Studies (WOMENST) courses are now listed as Gender Studies (GENDRST) courses. Students having credit in WOMENST courses may not take the corresponding course under the GENDRST designation.

French

Department Notes

1. Students who have taken Grade 12 French U or the equivalent within the last three years must register in FRENCH 1A06 A/B. Those who took Grade 12 French U or the equivalent more than 3 years ago should speak to a departmental counsellor if they feel their French skills may be below the level required for entry into FRENCH 1A06 A/B.
2. FRENCH 2Z06 A/B is intended for students who have completed Grade 11 French U. By taking this course, students may enter FRENCH 2M06 A/B which is the prerequisite for upper-level French courses. A placement test online may assist students who feel their level of proficiency in French is at a higher level than assigned.
3. FRENCH 1Z06 A/B is intended for absolute beginners or for those who have studied no further than Grade 9 or 10 French U. The normal sequel to this course is FRENCH 2Z06 A/B, followed by FRENCH 2M06 A/B which is the prerequisite for upper-level French courses.
4. Language courses taught in the Department of French adhere to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, which focuses on oral and written comprehension and production through task-based learning.
