A system’s approach is used to examine concepts in pathophysiology (patho) as a basis for advanced nursing practice. Case studies will provide a comprehensive overview of the etiology, pathogenesis, and clinical manifestations of disease in adults and children. Building on knowledge of normal anatomy and physiology across the lifespan, the student will learn to demonstrate an understanding of physiological principles such as clinical manifestations, alterations in physiological function in organs and systems, and the impact of stress on agerelated, acute, episodic, and chronic conditions found in primary health care practice.
