LINGUIST 3DS3 - ASL & Deaf Studies 3 unit(s)
This course develops an understanding of the concept of Deaf people and users of American Sign Language (ASL). We then focus on the complexities and varieties of Deaf experiences. Students will engage with the course material through multi-disciplinary approaches in order to gain a critical appreciation of Deaf lives and an understanding of the importance of ASL within historical, political, and global contexts. Three hours; one term Prerequisite(s): Registration in Level III or above
