This course examines the political, economic and sociological approaches to understanding work and labour in capitalist societies. Key concepts explored
include private property, competition, the labour market, the labour process, the state and its role, the production of social inequality (including social class,
gender, race, and ability), and the nature of various forms of oppositional consciousness and social movements.
