Admission to Level II iBioMed Programs
Admission to either the B.H.Sc. (Honours) Health, Engineering Science and Entrepreneurship (HESE) program or one of the B.Eng.BME Biomedical Engineering (BME) programs requires successful completion of all non-elective iBioMed I courses with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.0. Notes
Unless otherwise stated with effective dating, the calendar text for this program applies only to students entering level 2 in the 2026-27 academic year. Students entering earlier should instead refer to the calendar from the year they entered level 2 of the program. - Approved Technical Electives for a total of at least 20 units:
- Students must take at least 10 units of Approved Technical Electives from ENGPHYS or NUCENG courses.
- Students must take at least 6 units of Approved Technical Electives from the Approved iBioMed technical elective course offerings
- Remaining units: Students may take any approved Engineering or Science technical elective (including ENGPHYS or NUCENG)
- Students interested in some elective combinations (e.g., Nuclear Engineering from Note 3 below) may need to take important elective courses early (e.g., NUCENG 3D04 in Level IV) - in these cases, they should delay taking ENGPHYS 3E04 until Level V.
- Approved Technical Electives are available in a list on the Engineering Physics website. Subject to Chair approval, students may replace Engineering Physics technical electives with approved Science or Engineering courses. Also subject to Chair approval, courses not appearing on the technical elective list may qualify as acceptable technical electives. Students are free to choose their technical electives according to their own interests, but may consider subsets of the following course recommendations for a program of study. Further detail on program specializations and course recommendations is available on the Engineering Physics website. Students are responsible for ensuring that they fulfill the prerequisites for each course. Note that courses in departments other than Engineering Physics may be subject to enrollment limitations.
